About Hex Flange Bolts
Hex Flange Bolts have a six-sided head with an integrated washer face (the flange) on the underside. The flange spreads load and removes the need for a separate washer. Serrated variants have small teeth on the underside of the flange that bite into the mating surface and resist loosening from vibration. Common in automotive, machinery, structural steel and any high-vibration metal-to-metal application.
Recommended use Indoor and dry-environment automotive, machinery, agricultural and electrical assembly where the yellow finish is specified by design or matches surrounding hardware.

Fewer parts to handle on the production line, no risk of leaving the washer off, and consistent bearing area every assembly.
Serrated flange bolts give vibration resistance without a spring washer or Nyloc nut. Avoid on soft or coated surfaces where the teeth would damage the finish.

DIN 6921 is the European standard, JIS B1189 the Japanese, IFI 111 the imperial. Head dimensions differ slightly between standards; check the AF before ordering.
Drive these with a matching spanner, socket or driver bit. Using an oversized tool will round off the head.
If a flange nut is not used, a hex nut with a flat washer is acceptable.
Common across truck, agricultural and earthmoving equipment. The serrated variant is favoured in production environments because it removes the need for a separate locking element.
Material & Coating
Zinc Yellow Electroplated zinc on carbon steel with a yellow chromate passivation. A thin (5 to 12 micron) zinc layer applied by electrolysis, then dipped in a chromate bath that produces the iridescent yellow / gold appearance and slightly improves corrosion resistance over clear-passivated zinc.
Important NOT suitable for outdoor, wet, marine or treated-timber applications. The chromate layer extends salt-spray performance modestly over bright zinc but does not protect against prolonged moisture or chloride exposure. For outdoor use, specify hot-dip galvanised.
Grade Imperial fasteners are classified as grade 2, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12. See the head marking chart and full strength table.
Thread Pitch & Terminology
Thread Pitch (Imperial) Imperial fasteners measure thread pitch as TPI (threads per inch), the number of thread peaks per inch of fastener length. Imperial systems include UNC (coarse), UNF (fine), BSW (Whitworth) and BSF (British Standard Fine). This product has 13 TPI, meaning 13 thread peaks per inch.
How to Measure
Fastener Length This product has a head that sits on top of the material, so the length is measured from directly under the head to the tip of the thread. The head itself is not included in the size.
Thread Length On a bolt the thread length runs from the start of the unthreaded section (called the shank) to the end of the thread. To view the thread length for this product, select a length above.
