M100 (100mm) Cutting Discs are thin bonded abrasive discs for cutting metal and stainless steel edge-on with an angle grinder.

About Cutting Discs

Cutting Discs are thin bonded abrasive discs designed to cut through metal edge-on with an angle grinder. The 1mm thickness gives the fastest, cleanest cut and the narrowest kerf; the 1.6mm version offers longer wheel life at a slightly wider kerf. Standard 22.23mm arbor, sized 100 / 115 / 125mm for standard angle grinders. Klingspor TZ Special for metal and stainless steel. Manufactured to AS 1788:1987 and EN 12413.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this disc and how do I use it?
A thin bonded abrasive disc designed to cut through metal edge-on. Standard thicknesses are 1mm (fastest, cleanest cut) and 1.6mm (longer wheel life, slightly wider kerf).

Use ONLY edge-on, never face-on. Cutting discs are not rated for side load and will shatter if you grind with them. For pipe, bar, sheet metal, rebar and any straight or controlled curved cut.

What angle grinder does this fit?
Match the disc outside diameter and the arbor hole to your grinder. The most common sizes are 100mm (4 inch), 115mm (4.5 inch), 125mm (5 inch), 180mm (7 inch) and 230mm (9 inch), all with a 22.23mm arbor (the standard angle grinder spindle).

100mm discs need a small or compact angle grinder; 115 / 125mm fit the standard mid-size grinder; 180 / 230mm need a large grinder rated for the disc speed. Check your grinder's maximum disc size before ordering.

What is the maximum RPM rating for this disc?
Maximum safe RPM is moulded into the disc and matched to the disc diameter. A typical 125mm disc is rated for around 12,200 RPM (about 80 m/s peripheral speed); larger discs are rated lower.

NEVER use a disc on a grinder that spins faster than the disc's marked maximum. Over-speeding can rupture the disc. Match grinder no-load RPM to the disc rating, leaving a margin.

What material does this disc work on?
Designed for metal and stainless steel. The brand-grade marking (A24, A30, A46, A60 etc.) indicates the grit size and bond hardness for that material grade.

A24 is a coarse, soft-bond wheel for rapid metal removal on mild steel. A46 / A60 are finer, harder wheels for stainless and harder steels. Always confirm the disc is rated for the metal you are working on. Do NOT use a metal-rated disc on masonry or concrete (different abrasive grit and bond).

What safety standard is this disc certified to?
Manufactured to AS1788:-1987 / EN12413.

AS 1788-1987 is the Australian standard for bonded abrasive products; EN 12413 is the European equivalent. Both specify burst speed, strength testing, marking and storage requirements. Always check the disc for cracks, chips or moisture damage before use.

Where are bonded abrasive discs typically used?
Workshop fabrication, on-site metal work, weld preparation and dressing, rebar cutting, automotive panel and chassis work, plumbing pipe cutting, and any application where a metal-cutting or metal-grinding operation is needed at the angle grinder.

Match the disc to the job: thin cutting disc for clean cuts, grinding disc for bulk material removal, cut-grind disc for site work where one wheel must do both.
