10g (4.80mm) Bremick MultiONE Screws are the Bremick MultiONE® multi-purpose timber screw with T20 Torx drive and Revolution B8® high-corrosion coating.

About Bremick MultiONE Screws

Bremick MultiONE® countersunk truss screws with the Revolution B8® coating for high outdoor corrosion resistance. T20 Torx drive across the range, sized in gauge x length format for batten, decking and treated-pine assembly work. Single-source from Bremick Fasteners.

Recommended use Galvanising has been the proven outdoor coating for fasteners for decades - external building work, structural framing, fencing, decking, retaining walls, marine and coastal construction, anything exposed to weather. Newer coating advances - Class 4, Bremick B8 and Hobson X9 - build on this with longer service life and better resistance to severe coastal and industrial sites.

Not sure if this is the right screw?
Two ways to confirm before you order - whichever you already know.
1If you have a screw in hand

Measure across the outside of the thread - not the shank - to get the gauge (an 8g screw measures about 4.2mm). Screw gauges have a wider tolerance than bolts, so treat it as a close match rather than exact. Then measure the length - countersunk timber screws are measured overall, head included.

2If you know the gauge

Match it on the Screw Gauge and TPI chart further down this page - every gauge links straight to the product. Rule of thumb for timber: coarse threads for softwood and framing, fine threads for hardwood.

T17 timber screw - gauge is measured across the thread.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this screw and where is it used?
A self-tapping timber screw with a countersunk truss head with Bremick's Revolution B8 coating for high outdoor corrosion resistance, sized in gauge x length format (e.g. 8g x 50mm, 14g-10 x 75mm). Used for batten, deck framing, joist work, decking boards and treated-pine assemblies.

Timber screws self-tap into softwood, hardwood and treated pine without a pilot hole in most cases. Pre-drill at the bit's tip diameter for hardwood, dense treated pine and pieces under 30mm wide where splitting is a risk.

How do I size a timber screw to my job?
Match the gauge to the load and the timber thickness; match the length so at least 2/3 of the screw goes into the receiving timber.

Typical sizing: 8g x 50mm for fence panel work; 10g x 65mm for general framing; 14g x 75mm to 150mm for batten / structural; 18g x 100mm+ for landscape. For decking, length should reach through the deck board PLUS 30mm minimum into the joist. Compliance with AS 1684 timber framing code requires specific sizes for specific applications - check the standard.

Type 17 point - what does that mean?
Type 17 is a slotted cutting tip that self-drills into hardwood and treated pine without splitting. The notch at the bit tip acts as a cutting edge during initial entry.

Type 17 is the de facto standard on Australian timber screws. The point eliminates the need for a pilot hole in most softwood and most modern treated pine. For very hard timber (jarrah, ironbark, blackbutt) a pilot hole is still recommended to prevent the screw shearing at the head.

Which drive bit should I use?
Use a T20 Torx bit. Match the T-number to the screw exactly.

Bremick MultiONE timber screws use Torx drive for cordless impact resistance. Torx bits have a star-shaped tip that resists cam-out at high torque - the preferred drive for cordless impact work. See the Torx bits range.

AS 3566 - what does that standard cover?
AS 3566 is the Australian standard for self-drilling and self-tapping screws including the corrosion class system (Class 1 through Class 4) used to rate the finish for environmental exposure.

Class 3 finishes (Galvanised, Tykote, Zinc Yellow) are rated for inland outdoor use; Class 4 (Stainless A2 / A4) is the marine / coastal grade. Check the corrosion class on each product page against your application's exposure level.

Material & Coating

Galvanised Screws come with different coatings for different environments. The Australian standard for screws is AS 3566 - the higher the class, the more rust protection. Class 4 is our preferred minimum.

Bremick Revolution B8 Bremick's top coating - twice as protective as Class 4. Built for severe coastal and industrial sites, including beachfront work within 150 metres of breaking surf. Bremick warrants these screws for up to 30 years inland and 10 years on the worst coastal sites. The coating is also 8x harder than Class 4, so it survives self-drilling without rubbing off.

Important Match the coating to where you're building. Class 4 is our preferred minimum and handles severe coastal sites within 1 km of the surf. For beachfront work (within 150 metres of breaking surf) or heavy industrial sites, use Bremick B8 or Hobson X9. See our full coating comparison, or send us your postcode and we'll match it for you.

About treated pine Treated pine is softwood infused with copper-based preservatives so it resists rot, termites and weather. It's the standard timber for outdoor framing, decking and retaining walls. The preservatives eat through zinc plating and uncoated steel over time. Pick galvanised, Class 4, Bremick B8, Hobson X9, stainless or Bi-Metal screws - never plain or electroplated-zinc.

Thread Pitch & Terminology

Thread Pitch (TPI)TPI stands for "threads per inch", which literally means the number of threads within each inch on a screw, a bolt or a fastener. To determine the TPI of a screw, count the number of threads contained within an inch of length on the fastener. If the screw is less than an inch long, count the threads in half an inch and multiply by 2. The higher the number, the finer the thread. For timber screws, a coarse thread (lower TPI, typically around 8 to 12) is better for softwood, structural framing and decking timber - the bigger bite into the softer fibres gives a stronger grip with less risk of stripping. A fine thread (higher TPI, typically around 24 and above) is better for hardwood, where the tight grain lets a fine thread cut cleanly without splitting the timber.

How to Measure

Fastener Length This product has a flush-fitting head, so the length is measured as the overall length - from the tip of the thread to the top of the head. The head is included in the size.

Thread Length On a screw the thread length runs from the start of the unthreaded section (called the shank) to the end of the thread. To view the thread length for this product, select a length above.
