About Socket Adapters

Socket adapters convert a 1/4 inch hex chuck on a cordless driver or impact driver to a square drive for standard sockets. 1/4 inch hex to 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2 inch square drive. Lets you spin nuts and bolts with standard sockets straight off a hex-chuck driver without switching to a ratchet.

How to Measure

Format Socket adapters carry a 1/4" hex shank at the driver end and a 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" square drive at the socket end. Spring-loaded ball detent retains the socket. Be aware that 1/2" cordless impact wrenches produce 400+ Nm - far more than a 1/4" hex shank can survive.

How to measure a driver bit Pick the bit by the output square drive size (1/4", 3/8" or 1/2"). The shank is the bit's clamping end - 1/4" hex is the universal standard across cordless drivers, impact drivers and bit holders. The overall length determines reach: 25mm insert for general use, 50mm to 90mm power bits with a torsion zone for impact drivers, 116mm for Hilti autofeed, long-shank Allen keys for recessed socket cap screws. Cross-check the tip dimension against the screw head before driving - an undersized bit cams out and strips the recess.
