Recommended use Marine fittings, automotive body panels, HVAC ducting, outdoor electrical enclosures, sealed instrument cases - anywhere a panel penetration needs to stay watertight or vibration-damped. Pair with a stainless bolt for full outdoor / wet-service corrosion resistance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Stocked in 20g bottle for occasional general repair work. Bonds metal, plastic (not PE / PP), wood, ceramic. Brittle under flex - not suitable for sustained vibration.
Surface prep is critical: clean, dry, free of oil and dust. Cured adhesive bonds far better to a clean surface.
Pressing the parts firmly together accelerates the cure for most adhesives.
Match the adhesive chemistry to the load profile - quick-bond for static joints, structural for high-load, polymer for flex / vibration.
For installations that need scheduled service, use a threadlocker rated for the desired removal torque (Loctite 222 / 243 / 263 series have published torque ratings).
Material & Coating
Rubber An elastomer (rubber) body bonded around an internal brass thread. The two materials work together: the brass thread carries the bolt load and stays dimensionally stable, while the rubber body compresses radially against the panel to form a watertight seal and absorb vibration.
Important Not for structural fastening. The rubber will creep under sustained load, so the joint loosens over time. For sealed but load-bearing penetrations, use a metal nutsert with a separate gasket, or a purpose-built sealing nutsert.
Benefits of Rubber
- Brass internal thread - corrosion-resistant, accepts a standard metric bolt, will not rust if water reaches the assembly.
- Rubber body - watertight seal around the panel hole and around the bolt shank, plus vibration damping that no metal nutsert provides.
- No specialist nutsert tool required - installed with a standard bolt + spanner. The bolt itself crushes the rubber against the panel.
- Lower clamp strength than a metal nutsert. Pick rubber when sealing and damping matter more than maximum bolt-down load.
