About Full Hex Open End Nutserts

Full Hex Open End Nutserts have a hex-shaped body running the full length and an open end (the bolt can pass right through). The hex body keys into a matching hex pre-drilled hole so the nutsert cannot rotate under torque - the strongest anti-rotation grip of any nutsert style. The open end suits longer bolts that need to pass through the panel. Standard for vehicle chassis, machinery and any high-torque application where the bolt may extend beyond the back face.

Recommended use Indoor and dry-environment use only. Common in automotive, machinery and electrical assembly where the bolt is not exposed to weather, condensation or wet service.

Zinc Electroplated zinc on carbon steel. A thin (5 to 12 micron) bright (clear-passivated) zinc layer applied by electrolysis. Bright silvery finish.

Important NOT suitable for outdoor, wet, marine or treated-timber applications. The thin coating is consumed quickly by rainwater or treated-pine preservatives. For outdoor use, specify hot-dip galvanised.

Thread Pitch (Metric) Metric fasteners measure thread pitch as the distance between thread peaks, expressed in millimetres. Every nutsert we stock is metric coarse - the default series that matches standard metric bolts and machine screws. This product has a 0.70mm coarse pitch, meaning the peaks are 0.70mm apart.

How is the Length of a Nutsert Measured?

Nutsert Length Every nutsert is measured the same way: overall, head included - from the top of the head to the end of the body. The rule holds for every head style we stock, whether it is a large flange, small flange or countersunk head.

Length alone does not pick the right nutsert. The Grips range in the product name (for this product: 0.50 - 2.50mm) states the panel-thickness window the body clamps on - match that to your panel thickness and the body length looks after itself.
