1If you have a screw in hand

Measure across the outside of the thread - not the shank - to get the gauge (a 10g screw measures about 4.8mm). Screw gauges have a wider tolerance than bolts, so treat it as a close match rather than exact. Then measure the length for your head type.

Every product page carries a Screw Gauge and TPI chart for its range - every gauge links straight to the product. For metal: coarse threads bite and hold thin sheet; fine threads (higher TPI) give more grip in thicker steel.

Self drilling (tek) screw - gauge is measured across the thread, not the drill point.

Roofing metal screws are hex-head, self-drilling (tek) screws with a bonded EPDM sealing washer, used to fix roofing iron, cladding and flashings into steel purlins, battens and rafters. The tek point drills its own hole through the steel, and the sealing washer compresses against the sheet to keep every penetration watertight.

GRADES AND MATERIALS

Galvanised and corrosion-coated carbon steel for long outdoor life under cyclic weather load. The bonded washer seals each fixing against wind-driven rain.

DRIVE AND INSTALLATION

Hex head driven with a matching nut setter (AF across-flats) from our Driving range. Drive until the washer is just compressed - over-driving crushes the washer and breaks the seal.

SIZE AND DRILL CAPACITY

Common roofing gauges and lengths with a tek point sized for single and double steel battens. Choose a length that fully penetrates the steel behind the sheet, with the point clear.
