Security Barrel Nuts
Barrel nuts are smooth cylindrical security nuts with no external flats, so they cannot be turned with a standard spanner or pliers. Two small drive holes in the end face take a matching pin spanner, making them tamper-resistant on exposed bolted joints.
Size and Drive Range
Metric thread sizes across the common range, in zinc-plated and stainless. Driven with the matching pin spanner / two-pin tool stocked in Security Bits. Pair with a standard or security bolt depending on the level of tamper resistance required at both ends.
Recommended Use
Use barrel nuts where the nut side of a joint is exposed and must resist removal, such as bench seating, balustrades, screens and public fittings. The smooth body resists gripping tools; only the pin spanner engages the drive holes.
