Security Shear Nuts (Break-Off)

Shear nuts have a hex collar that snaps off at a preset tightening torque, leaving a smooth domed or conical body with no flats to grip. The result is a permanent, non-removable fixing - the only way off is to destroy the nut. Used where a joint must never be undone in service.

Size Range

Metric thread sizes across the common range, in zinc-plated and stainless. Tighten with a normal spanner on the shear hex until it breaks away; no special tool is needed to install. Pair with a matching security or standard bolt.

Recommended Use

Use shear nuts for permanent anti-tamper fixings: grilles, screens, bollards, public seating and security panels. Because removal is destructive, confirm the assembly is correct before final tightening. There is no authorised removal tool - plan for cut-off if a fixing ever has to come apart.
