Features & Benefits
Soudal Gap Filler is an acrylic-dispersion sealant designed for filling cracks, gaps and joints in surfaces that will be painted over.
- Paintable in 20 minutes - much faster repaint window than silicone (which can't be painted at all).
- Smooth, sand-friendly finish - tools and finger-smooths cleanly; can be sanded once cured.
- Water-based and low-odour - safer for indoor work than solvent-based fillers.
- Mould and mildew resistant - holds up in occasionally damp rooms.
- Waterproof when cured - rated -20°C to 80°C; indoor and protected outdoor use.
- NOT suitable for high-movement joints or constant water immersion - acrylic flexes less than silicone or hybrid polymers.
Good to know Best for: cornice gaps, skirting joints, crown moulding, cracks in plaster, around door / window architraves where the gap will be painted over. NOT for shower / bath / kitchen wet zones (use Bathroom & Kitchen silicone) or any joint expected to move more than a few mm.
Frequently Asked Questions
Use to fill cracks, gaps around skirting, architrave, cornice. Apply with a cartridge gun, smooth with a wet finger or smoothing tool. Sand and paint after 24h.
Sealant adhesion fails on contaminated surfaces - the most common cause of premature sealant failure on field jobs. Spend 5 minutes prepping the substrate before applying.
For a long clean bead, use a dripless cartridge gun - the cartridge stops dispensing immediately when you release the trigger, preventing over-application at the end of the run.
Cure rate varies with humidity and temperature. Higher humidity = faster cure. Below 5C the sealant may not cure at all - work in warm conditions where possible.
Test paint adhesion on a small sample before committing to a long bead.
