Description

  • British Standard Fine (BSF) Hex Bolts and Set Screws is a screw thread form, as a fine-pitch alternative to British Standard Whitworth (BSW) thread. It was used between the 30's to even the 70's on British and Australian machinery, motor vehicles and farming equipment prior to adoption of Unified, and later Metric standards. It is now being discontinued by many of the the major UK manufacturers and sizes making it harder to source, especially in any volume so pricing reflects that
  • Material / Coating: High Tensile Grade R (equivalent to metric 8.8) Steel Zinc Plated. Zinc Plated is the most common fastener of plating due to its the low cost and shinny bright silver finish. A thin layer of zinc is applied by either electroplating or mechanically
  • Thread Pitch (Imperial):TPI stands for “threads per inch” which literally means the number of threads within each inch on a screw, a bolt, or a fastener. To determine the TPI of a screw, you simply count the number of threads contained within an inch of length. If the screw is less than an inch count upto ½” and x by 2
  • Fastener length: is generally measured from the point where the surface of the material will be when the fastener is installed to the end of the fastener. Thus, fasteners with heads that sit above the surface are measured from under the head to the end of the fastener, while fasteners that sit flush with the surface are measured from the top of the head to the end of the fastener
