Abrasive Block

Abrasive Block

Flexible abrasive blocks are conformable abrasive pads for hand finishing where the flat sanding disc won't follow the surface - curves, contours, inside radii and intricate shapes. The flexible foam carrier conforms to the workpiece while the bonded abrasive surface cuts.

Also known as: Foam Sanding Block, Flexible Sanding Pad, Contour Sanding Block, Sanding Sponge, Klingspor SK500.

Klingspor SK500 flexible abrasive blocks in 100mm x 75mm rectangular format. Two grits stocked: 80 grit coarse for blending and rust removal, 120 grit medium for finish prep on shaped work.

GRIT AND GRAIN

Aluminium oxide grain bonded to a flexible foam carrier. The foam compresses under hand pressure so the block conforms to the work surface; release pressure and the foam recovers. Washable with water; reuse until the grain is worn flat.

USAGE AND TECHNIQUE

Use dry or wet depending on substrate (wet for paint prep on automotive, dry for metalwork). Apply light pressure and move in long strokes for even surface finish. Coarse 80 grit blends edges and removes rust; medium 120 grit prepares for paint or topcoat. Cut blocks to fit confined-access work with a utility knife.

SAFETY AND RPM

Passive hand tool - no powered hazard. Glove use for grip and to protect against hand fatigue on extended use. Eye protection if abraded dust could flick up into eyes during overhead work.
