Wing Head

Compare your fastener to our visual size guide to confirm M-size, pitch and length.
Match your driver bit to the screw recess - Phillips, Pozi, slot or internal hex. Our Driving range lists the bit size for every drive type we stock.
Wing head machine screws — also called thumbscrews — have two flat wings extending from the head that allow the fastener to be tightened and loosened by hand without any tools. They're used wherever access panels, instrument covers, junction box lids and equipment doors need frequent removal and reinstatement without a tool nearby.
Also known as: Thumbscrew, Wing Thumb Screw, Hand Screw.
Fully threaded with uniform diameter — requires a pre-tapped hole or matching nut. Not intended for high-torque applications — the hand-tighten design limits clamping force by design.
MATERIAL AND USE
Available in Zinc Plated mild steel in metric thread sizes. Used across test equipment, switchboards, access panels, scientific instruments, workshop jigs and any enclosure requiring regular entry without a screwdriver.
