Left Hand Drill Bits and Screw Extractors

Left Hand Drill Bits and Screw Extractors

Left hand drill bits cut on counter-clockwise rotation, so in a reversed drill on a stuck or broken bolt they can grab the workpiece and back it out before any extracting is needed. Screw extractors take over when the bit does not bite: a tapered reverse-thread that grips a pre-drilled pilot. Used together for snapped studs, sheared bolt heads and stripped fasteners.

Construction & Materials

HSS and HSS-Cobalt left-hand bits for hardened and stainless fasteners; hardened tool-steel extractors with a tapered reverse spiral.

Drive & Use

Run the drill in REVERSE. Drill a pilot into the broken fastener with the left-hand bit - often the bit alone backs it out. If not, switch to the matching extractor: it bites harder the more you turn.
