Eye Bolts

Eye bolts have a closed bent eye at the head end and a metric machine thread at the shank end. Bolt the threaded end through a substrate (usually a structural panel, deck, beam or chassis rail), tighten the nut against the underside, and the eye is now a permanent anchor for slings, ropes, chains and rigging fittings.

Also known as: Threaded Eye Bolt, Lift Bolt, Anchor Bolt, Eyebolt, Bent Eye Bolt.

Stainless A2-70 G304 with metric coarse thread, M5 through M16. Length range 40mm through 100mm covering most through-substrate applications. Each eye bolt is supplied complete with a matching stainless nut and washer.

GRADES AND MATERIALS

Stainless A2-70 G304: 700 MPa minimum tensile, 304-family austenitic stainless. The general stainless grade for sheltered marine, freshwater, inland and non-coastal outdoor use. Tea-stains in direct saltwater exposure over time - for surf-line or boat-deck use, step up to A4-70 G316. Largely non-magnetic. For genuine marine immersion or surf-line application, switch to G316 fittings as special order via Contact us.

INSTALLATION AND USE

Drill a clearance hole through the substrate matching the thread (M8 needs 8.5-9mm). Thread the eye bolt through with the eye on the load-application side and the threaded shank passing through the substrate. Fit the washer under the nut on the back face. Tighten the nut to seat the eye bolt firmly against the front face. Eye bolts must NEVER be loaded sideways or at an angle - the eye loads in the AXIS direction only.

A NOTE ON GALLING

Stainless threads can gall under tension - apply a thin film of nickel-based anti-seize from the Anti-Seize range to the male thread before assembly. Tighten slowly, never with an impact driver.

SIZE AND WLL

M5 = ~50kg WLL, M6 = ~80kg, M8 = ~140kg, M10 = ~220kg, M12 = ~320kg, M16 = ~580kg (typical bent-eye stainless figures - confirm against per-SKU spec). For overhead lifting use only forged shoulder eye bolts (special order). Standard eye bolts are for rigging anchor, NOT overhead lifting.
