How to measure washers
Two ways to confirm before you order - whichever you already know.
1If you know your bolt size

Washers are named by the bolt they fit: an M10 washer suits an M10 bolt. The inside diameter is slightly larger than the bolt so it slides on. Our guide covers every size and washer type we stock.

2If you have a washer in hand

Measure the inside diameter (ID), outside diameter (OD) and thickness, as shown in the drawing.

MATERIALS

A2-70 G304 Stainless Steel — Most popular grade. General outdoor and indoor use.

A4-70 G316 Marine Grade Stainless — Coastal and chemical environments. Largely non-magnetic.

A4-80 G316 High Tensile Stainless — High tensile marine grade for structural use.

Mild Steel Zinc Plated — Economical option for protected applications.

Mild Steel Galvanised — Outdoor and treated timber use.

WHEN A SPRING WASHER ISN'T ENOUGH

Spring washers work well for general-purpose joints, but for severe vibration, heavy dynamic loading, or safety-critical applications, step up to a wedge-locking washer (Nord-Lock®), a Schnorr® serrated safety washer, or an external/internal tooth lock washer. Spring lock washers (split lock washers) are the original low-cost solution for vibration resistance. The split ring creates tension during tightening, keeping the nut from working loose. They're the default choice for general-purpose joints where extreme vibration isn't expected — and at the price point, they're an easy insurance policy.
