Pan Head

Compare your fastener to our visual size guide to confirm M-size, pitch and length.
Match your driver bit to the screw recess - Phillips, Pozi, slot or internal hex. Our Driving range lists the bit size for every drive type we stock.
Pan head machine screws have a wide, slightly domed head with a flat bearing face — the most versatile and widely used machine screw head style for general assembly, electronics, appliances and light engineering. The large bearing surface distributes clamping load well, and the head sits cleanly above the surface without the sharp edge of a hex head.
Also known as: Dome Head, Metal Thread, Stove Bolt, Pan Head.
Machine screws are fully threaded with uniform diameter throughout — they require a pre-tapped hole or a matching nut. They do not cut their own thread. Used across electronics, switchboards, machinery, HVAC equipment, signage and general engineering assembly.
DRIVE TYPES
Phillips (PH1 and PH2) — The most common drive across the pan head range. A large range of matching Phillips bits is available in our Driving section.
Slot — Traditional slotted drive for applications requiring a simple flat-blade screwdriver. Common in electrical fittings, plumbing and heritage/restoration work.
MATERIALS
Zinc Plated — Bright silver finish, internal dry use. The standard economical choice for electronics, switchboards and general internal assembly.
Black Zinc Plated — Electroplated zinc with black chromate dip. Dark aesthetic finish, popular in architectural metalwork and audio/visual equipment. Some minor variation in depth of finish is normal with this process.
A2-70 G304 Stainless — Corrosion-resistant for external, coastal and food/chemical applications. Largely non-magnetic — Small degree of work-hardening magnetism is normal.
Brass — Corrosion resistant, thermally conductive, aesthetically distinctive. For electrical, marine, heritage and decorative applications.
Nylon — Non-conductive, lightweight, chemically resistant. For electronics and applications requiring electrical isolation. Note: nylon absorbs moisture over time in very wet conditions which can reduce tensile strength — factor this in for long-term outdoor nylon fastener use.
THREAD SYSTEMS
Metric Coarse — The standard for most applications. Available M2 to M12 across a comprehensive length range.
