Liquid gasket sealant replaces cut-gasket assembly on machined flange surfaces. Applied as a thin bead between two clean flange faces, the compound cures to a flexible seal that conforms to surface irregularities and won't blow out under pressure. The Ultraloc XS-series is the BNA stocked range.
Also known as: Liquid Gasket, Flange Sealant, Form-A-Gasket, Anaerobic Gasket, Hylomar Equivalent.
Ultraloc XS10 (XS1001, general-purpose) and XS15 (XS1502, high-strength) liquid gasket sealants in 50g tubes. XS10 for general flange and pipe-thread sealing; XS15 for higher-pressure or higher-temperature applications.
CHEMISTRY AND PROPERTIES
Anaerobic chemistry - cures only between two close-fitting metal surfaces in absence of air. The compound stays liquid in the tube nozzle but cures to a flexible solid in the flange gap. Temperature range -55°C to 150°C; pressure rated to 70 bar typical.
APPLICATION AND CURE
Clean both flange faces. Apply a continuous thin bead around bolt-hole circuits and the internal seal line on one face only. Mate the flanges and torque the bolts to the published value. Allow 24 hours for full cure before pressure testing. Excess outside the flange wipes off cleanly while wet.
