Two ways to confirm before you order - whichever you already know.
1If you know your bolt size

Washers are named by the bolt they fit: an M10 washer suits an M10 bolt. The inside diameter is slightly larger than the bolt so it slides on. Our guide covers every size and washer type we stock.

2If you have a washer in hand

Measure the inside diameter (ID), outside diameter (OD) and thickness, as shown in the drawing.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Thin sheet metal — automotive panels, ducting, light gauge enclosures. Soft plastics and composites where a standard washer would crush the surface. Oversized or slotted holes where load spreading is critical. Repairs through corroded or damaged material where a wider bearing surface is needed.

Mild Steel Zinc Plated — Bright silver, general indoor/protected use.

Mild Steel Galvanised — Outdoor and treated timber.

A2-70 G304 Stainless Steel — Outdoor and food/chemical applications.

Mudguard washers (also called fender washers or penny washers) have an unusually large outside diameter relative to the bolt size — originally designed for fastening through thin sheet metal panels like vehicle mudguards. The large bearing surface spreads load over a much wider area, preventing the bolt head from pulling through thin or soft material.
