1If you have a screw in hand

Measure across the outside of the thread - not the shank - to get the gauge (an 8g screw measures about 4.2mm). Screw gauges have a wider tolerance than bolts, so treat it as a close match rather than exact. Then measure the length - countersunk timber screws are measured overall, head included.

Every product page carries a Screw Gauge and TPI chart for its range - every gauge links straight to the product. Rule of thumb for timber: coarse threads for softwood and framing, fine threads for hardwood.

Painted timber screws are hex flange screws with the head colour-matched to the BlueScope COLORBOND chart. Used universally on fencing, shed cladding, patio cladding and exterior trim where the cladding panel is COLORBOND-coloured and the visible fastener head must blend visually with the panel.

12g (5.50mm) shank with full thread, T17 self drilling tip. Hex flange head colour-matched to the COLORBOND chart - NEO Basalt, NEO Classic Cream and the wider colour range. 25mm length standard. Galvanised Class 4 underlying finish.

GRADES AND MATERIALS

Galvanised Class 4 shank: standard finish under the painted head, suitable for treated-pine framing and long-term exterior cladding work. Painted head: OEM colour match to BlueScope COLORBOND warranty colour. Touch-up paint available for damaged or scratched heads.

DRIVE AND INSTALLATION

Drive with a 1/4 inch hex socket at 1200-1800 RPM. Set driver torque carefully - the painted head is the visible surface, so over-drive can chip the paint. Touch-up paint resolves any minor paint chips at install.

SIZE AND THREAD

12g (5.50mm) shank, 25mm length. Suits standard sheet cladding (0.4-0.6mm Colorbond) into timber framing 15-20mm engagement. For longer applications, Contact us for special order.
