Security Nuts

Sometimes the security is on the back of the bolt, not the head. Security nuts use the same tamper-resistant drive shapes as security screws - Tri-Wing, Spanner two-hole, Pin Hex - applied to a hex-or-other-form nut body. Shear and breakaway nuts go further: a sacrificial driver section snaps off at a designed torque, leaving a smooth dome that can't be re-gripped.

Sizes & Types

Thread sizes: M6 through M20. Types: Tri-Wing nuts (M6-M12), Spanner / Two-Hole nuts (M6-M16), Pin Hex nuts (M8-M16), Shear nuts (M8-M16, breakaway at designed torque), Breakaway studs with shear-cap nuts. Finish: Stainless A2-70 G304.

Recommended Use

Pair with a standard bolt of matching size and thread. The nut provides the security; the bolt does not need to be a security-drive type if the head sits in a recess that hides it from tampering. For maximum security use a security screw head AND a security nut - attacker has to defeat both.
