Conduit Saddles

Conduit saddles are half-round zinc-plated bracket strips that clip electrical conduit to a framing substrate. The saddle wraps the bottom of the conduit; bolt-through holes at each end clamp the saddle to the substrate, securing the conduit in place.

Also known as: Conduit Clip, Conduit Strap, Electrical Saddle, Cable Conduit Saddle.

Zinc-plated half conduit saddles in 16mm and 20mm conduit sizes - the two standard Australian electrical conduit OD. Each saddle has bolt-through holes for substrate mounting.

GRADES AND MATERIALS

Zinc-plated steel (not stainless): the conduit saddle is the one exception to the stainless theme in the Marine & Hardware category. Zinc plating is the electrical-trade standard for indoor, roof-space and switchboard conduit runs. NOT for direct marine, wet-area or outdoor exposed installation. INSTALLATION AND USE

Position the conduit on the substrate where it should run. Place the saddle over the conduit and mark the bolt-through holes on the substrate. Drill, mount with screws or bolts matching the substrate (timber screws for timber stud, masonry screws for brick, self-drilling for steel section). Conduit-to-saddle is a clip fit; saddle-to-substrate is the secured connection.

A NOTE ON GALLING

Stainless threads can gall under tension - apply a thin film of nickel-based anti-seize from the Anti-Seize range to the male thread before assembly. Tighten slowly, never with an impact driver.

SIZE AND WLL

Match the saddle to the conduit OD: 16mm saddle for 16mm conduit, 20mm for 20mm. Mixing sizes results in either a loose conduit (16mm in 20mm saddle) or a forced fit (20mm in 16mm saddle, won't seat).
