Saddle Eye Straps
Saddle eye straps are bolt-on stainless straps that form a low-profile arched loop for rope or strap attachment. Mount over a deck or panel with bolts through the strap base; the arch forms an attachment point for ties, ropes or straps. Lower profile than a pad eye and quicker to install.
Also known as: Eye Strap, Saddle Eye, Strap Eye, Rope Eye Strap.
Stainless A2-70 G304 in 4mm x 40mm and 5mm x 51mm sizes. The first dimension is the loop wire diameter; the second is the strap base width. The strap base has bolt-through holes at each end for mounting.
GRADES AND MATERIALS
Stainless A2-70 G304: 700 MPa minimum tensile, 304-family austenitic stainless. The general stainless grade for sheltered marine, freshwater, inland and non-coastal outdoor use. Tea-stains in direct saltwater exposure over time - for surf-line or boat-deck use, step up to A4-70 G316. Largely non-magnetic.
INSTALLATION AND USE
Mark the bolt-through holes on the mounting substrate. Drill clearance holes for the chosen bolt size. Bolt-and-nut through the substrate - use a back-plate or large washer underneath if the substrate is thin. The strap loop is now an attachment point.
A NOTE ON GALLING
Stainless threads can gall under tension - apply a thin film of nickel-based anti-seize from the Anti-Seize range to the male thread before assembly. Tighten slowly, never with an impact driver.
SIZE AND WLL
4mm strap = ~30kg WLL; 5mm strap = ~60kg. These are utility-grade fittings; for higher loads use the Pad Eyes sub-cat.
