Eye Nuts

Eye nuts are female-threaded eye fittings - the complement to eye bolts. Thread the eye nut onto an existing male thread (bolt, stud, threaded rod) and the eye becomes an attachment point for ropes, slings, chains and rigging fittings. Convert any threaded fastener into a rigging anchor without drilling a fresh hole.

Also known as: Eyenut, Lifting Eye Nut, Rigging Eye Nut, Internally Threaded Eye.

Stainless A4-70 G316 metric coarse eye nuts in M6, M8, M10 and M12. Each nut has a bent stainless eye welded or forged to a hex base for spanner engagement during tightening.

GRADES AND MATERIALS

Stainless A4-70 G316 (marine grade): 700 MPa minimum tensile, 316-family austenitic stainless with added molybdenum (2-3%) for chloride-pitting resistance. The standard for direct saltwater exposure, ocean spray, chlorinated pool plant and food-grade processing. Largely non-magnetic - cold-formed sections may show slight residual magnetism from manufacture.

INSTALLATION AND USE

Thread the eye nut onto the male thread until the hex base seats firmly against the back face of the substrate. Tighten the hex with a standard spanner (M6 takes 10mm AF, M8 = 13mm, M10 = 17mm, M12 = 19mm). Eye nuts must NEVER load sideways - the eye is rated for axial loading only.

A NOTE ON GALLING

Stainless threads can gall under tension - apply a thin film of nickel-based anti-seize from the Anti-Seize range to the male thread before assembly. Tighten slowly, never with an impact driver.

SIZE AND WLL

WLL by size: M6 = ~80kg, M8 = ~140kg, M10 = ~220kg, M12 = ~320kg. Match the eye nut to the thread diameter of the male thread you're attaching to. For larger sizes or higher loads, contact us for special order.
