Dee Shackles
Dee shackles are the workshop-default rigging connector - a U-shaped stainless body closed by a threaded pin. They join chain to chain, rope to chain, sling to anchor and equivalent connections across the rigging stack. The pin unthreads for connection / disconnection without specialised tools.

Stainless A4-70 G316 Bow form Dee shackles in 5mm x 20mm through 12mm x 50mm sizes. Pin diameter is the first dimension, jaw width is the second. The bow form (rounded body, wider at the bend) accepts multi-leg sling connections; the D-form is reserved for inline use.
GRADES AND MATERIALS
Stainless A4-70 G316 (marine grade): 700 MPa minimum tensile, 316-family austenitic stainless with added molybdenum (2-3%) for chloride-pitting resistance. The standard for direct saltwater exposure, ocean spray, chlorinated pool plant and food-grade processing. Largely non-magnetic - cold-formed sections may show slight residual magnetism from manufacture.
INSTALLATION AND USE
Connect the shackle around the rigging hardware (chain link, rope thimble, fitting eye). Thread the pin through both ears of the shackle body. Tighten hand-tight plus a quarter-turn snug with a spanner. For dynamic load applications (sea conditions, vibration), mouse the pin - tie a stainless wire through the pin's drilled hole and the shackle body to prevent the pin working loose.
A NOTE ON GALLING
Stainless threads can gall under tension - apply a thin film of nickel-based anti-seize from the Anti-Seize range to the male thread before assembly. Tighten slowly, never with an impact driver.
SIZE AND WLL
Pin diameter is the load-bearing dimension. 5mm pin shackle = ~250kg WLL; 6mm = ~400kg; 8mm = ~750kg; 10mm = ~1100kg; 12mm = ~1750kg. The per-SKU WLL is published on every product page. Always size to the actual rigging load PLUS a dynamic loading multiplier (1.5x for static, 2-3x for swinging or shock loaded).
