U Bolts

U Bolts

U bolts are U-shaped bolts threaded on both legs, used to clamp a round or square section - pipe, rail, mast, tube or rope - down to a flat surface, bracket or backing plate. In a marine and hardware setting they secure rigging, railings, rollers and pipework where a wrap-around clamp is needed.

Also known as: U Clamps, Pipe Clamps, Round U Bolts, Square U Bolts.

GRADES AND MATERIALS

Stocked in G304 and G316 stainless. Choose G316 (marine grade) for coastal, salt-spray and submerged use; G304 for general outdoor and hardware work. Supplied with matching nuts.

INSTALLATION AND USE

Wrap the U bolt around the section, pass both legs through the backing plate or bracket holes, and tighten the nuts evenly so the clamp seats square. Do not over-tighten on thin-wall tube - it can crush the section.

SIZE AND FIT

Sized by thread diameter and the inside width/diameter the U spans (to suit the pipe or rail OD). Match the inside dimension to your section so the legs sit parallel through the plate.
