1If you have a screw in hand

Measure across the outside of the thread - not the shank - to get the gauge (an 8g screw measures about 4.2mm). Screw gauges have a wider tolerance than bolts, so treat it as a close match rather than exact. Then measure the length - countersunk timber screws are measured overall, head included.

Every product page carries a Screw Gauge and TPI chart for its range - every gauge links straight to the product. Rule of thumb for timber: coarse threads for softwood and framing, fine threads for hardwood.

Roofing timber screws are hex-head screws with a bonded EPDM sealing washer, used to fix roofing iron, cladding and flashings into timber battens, purlins and rafters. The sealing washer compresses against the sheet to keep every penetration watertight, and the sharp point bites straight into the timber.

GRADES AND MATERIALS

Galvanised and corrosion-coated carbon steel for long outdoor life under cyclic weather load. The bonded washer seals each fixing against wind-driven rain.

DRIVE AND INSTALLATION

Hex head driven with a matching nut setter (AF across-flats) from our Driving range. Drive until the sealing washer is just compressed - do not over-drive, which crushes the washer and breaks the seal.

SIZE AND THREAD

Stocked in the common roofing gauges and lengths to suit single and double timber battens. Choose a length that fully penetrates the timber batten behind the sheet.
