Plastite Screws (Thread-Forming for Plastic)
74 Plastite (HI-PLAS) thread-forming self-tapping screw variants in M2.5 to M6 metric sizes. The trilobular thread profile rolls a tight thread into the plastic boss without removing material — this gives a stronger and crack-free fastening than a standard self-tapper in engineering plastics (acetal, nylon, polycarbonate, ABS, polypropylene, PBT). Wax-coated for reduced drive torque.
Materials and coatings
Stainless A2-70 G304 (48 variants) for corrosion resistance. Hardened steel zinc plated with wax overlay (26) — the wax reduces the friction of thread-forming so drive torque stays controlled.
Sizes available
Metric: M2.5, M3, M3.5, M4, M5, M6. Lengths: 5mm to 30mm. The metric sizing is matched to plastic boss diameter standards, not to mating machine threads.
Drive types
Phillips (48) and Pozi (26). Pozi is preferred for thread-forming because it stays engaged under sustained torque without cam-out.
Standards
DIN 7500 (thread-forming screws for plastic).
