Flat Top Metal Screws

Flat Top Metal Screws
Not sure what screw size you have or need?
Two ways to confirm before you order - whichever you already know.
1If you have a screw in hand

Measure across the outside of the thread - not the shank - to get the gauge (a 10g screw measures about 4.8mm). Screw gauges have a wider tolerance than bolts, so treat it as a close match rather than exact. Then measure the length for your head type.

2If you know the gauge

Every product page carries a Screw Gauge and TPI chart for its range - every gauge links straight to the product. For metal: coarse threads bite and hold thin sheet; fine threads (higher TPI) give more grip in thicker steel.

Self drilling tek screw side profile showing where to measure

Self drilling (tek) screw - gauge is measured across the thread, not the drill point.

Flat top self drilling screws have the lowest head profile in the BNA self driller range. The head is essentially a flat washer face with no protruding centre - the visible result on the cladding is almost a flush surface. Used for trim, finish, awning fascia and architecturally-exposed cladding where any head projection would compromise the visual line.

Also known as: Flat Pan Screw, Flush Head Tek, Trim Head Tek, Architectural Screw.

10g-16 gauge in coarse thread, 16mm length. Phillips PH2 drive. Galvanised Class 3 or Zinc Yellow Class 4 finish. The 16mm length suits cladding-to-cladding or cladding-to-thin-purlin fastening where the host doesn't extend beyond the standard cladding stack.

GRADES AND MATERIALS

Zinc Yellow (Class 2): zinc plate with a yellow chromate passivation - Class 2 corrosion rating for interior and dry, sheltered work. Galvanised (Class 3, 4, B8 and X9): galvanised and heavy-coated finishes for exterior, structural and coastal exposure - the higher the class, the harsher the environment it suits. Both use a Class-rated steel core for high pull-out and shear strength.

DRIVE AND INSTALLATION

Drive with PH2 Phillips bit at 1500-2500 RPM. The flat head seats almost flush - watch for over-driving which can dimple the cladding face below the head, leaving a visible defect. Set the clutch or impact torque to stop the moment the head meets the cladding.

SIZE AND DRILL CAPACITY

10g-16 gauge (4.80mm shank), 16mm length only. For longer applications, use the wafer or button pan range which provides similar low-profile heads in longer lengths.

Flat top self drilling metal screws - minimum-profile head sits almost flush with the cladding face for trim, finish and visible cladding work where any head projection is unacceptable.
