Toggles

Spring toggles are cavity-wall anchors with spring-loaded fold-flat legs. The legs fold flat against the bolt for insertion through a drilled hole; once through the cavity, the spring opens the legs against the back face of the cavity. Tightening the bolt clamps the legs against the back face.

Also known as: Spring Toggle, Toggle Bolt, Butterfly Anchor, Snap Toggle, Round Head Toggle.

Zinc Yellow Class 4 round-head spring toggle anchors in M4 through M6 thread, 50mm length.

GRADES AND MATERIALS

Zinc Yellow (Class 4): yellow chromate passivation over zinc plating - the BNA-standard masonry-fixing finish. Suited to general interior and sheltered exterior installation. For coastal, pool plant or fully-exposed exterior installation, specify stainless A4-70 G316 as special order via Contact us.

INSTALLATION

Drill the hole through the cavity front large enough for the folded legs (typically 12mm for M4, 16mm for M6). Push the toggle through with the legs folded; the spring opens them behind the cavity face. Pull the toggle back toward the front face to seat the legs against the back. Tighten the bolt to clamp the fixture in place. Note: once the bolt is removed, the toggle is lost in the cavity.

SIZE AND LOAD

M4 = ~0.3kN WLL; M6 = ~0.8kN in 10mm plasterboard. Spring toggles distribute load over a wider rear-face area than hollow wall anchors but are single-use (lost in cavity if removed).
