Description
- Hex Flange Bolts feature a flange under the head which eliminates the need for a separate washer. The built-in washer acts to distribute the clamping load over a greater area and the wide flange head is designed to provide the same holding power as a washer. Can be used to fasten objects together by inserting the bolt from the one end and securing it with either a nut on the other end or into a taped hole.
- Material / Coating: Black or Plain finish is unfinished (bare steel) has no actual protective coating. There may be an oil residue which provides some shelf life but no real corrosion protection when in use. The term “black” is an old industry term for plain. Depending on the material grade and heat treatment process the colour can vary from a shiny oily finish to a dull black
- Material Strength: These bolts are made to class 10.9 and are commonly used in automotive and agricultural equipment. 10.9 bolts have a yield strength of 940 and the tensile strength is 1040 Mpa compared to 8.8 yield strength of 640 and the tensile strength is 800Mpa
- Thread Pitch (Metric): Pitch means the distance between the peaks of two threads along a screw, bolt, or fastener expressed in millimetres (mm). Used when referring to Metric parts. For example, a thread pitch of 1.50mm means that the distance between one thread and the next is 1.50mm
- Fastener length: is generally measured from the point where the surface of the material will be when the fastener is installed to the end of the fastener. Thus, fasteners with heads that sit above the surface are measured from under the head to the end of the fastener, while fasteners that sit flush with the surface are measured from the top of the head to the end of the fastener
