Socket Shoulder Screws are also known as stripper bolts, are essentially a socket cap screw that is only partially threaded with a shoulder. Shoulder bolts are measured by their diameter of shoulder x length of shoulder x thread diameter. These bolts are often used on machinery to provide a smooth surface for bearings to ride on

Material / Coating: Black or plain finish is unfinished (bare steel) has no actual protective coating. You will not have any corrosion resistance and the product will rust over time. The term “black” is an old industry term for plain finish. Depending on the material grade and heat treatment process the colour can vary from a shiny oily finish to a dull black
What does TPI stand for?: TPI stands for “threads per inch” which literally means the number of threads within each inch on a screw, a bolt, or a fastener. To determine the TPI of a socket screw, count the number of threads contained within an inch of length or use a thread checker. If the screw is less than an inch you count the number of threads over ½” of an inch of the screw and then muliply the number by 2. An example: 1/4" x 5/8" UNC Socket Screw has a TPI of 20. Measure 1/2" of thread, count the number of threads, there should be approx 10, then multiply that by 2 to give you 20 TPI. 1/4" x 5/8" UNF screw has a TPI of 28. Measure 1/2" of thread, count the number of threads, there should be approx 14, then multiply that by 2 to give you 28 TPI
