Description

Schnorr® HDS Load High Tensile Washers have been specially developed for high-strength bolts of grades 8.8 - 12.9. This represents the most powerful form of safety washer in the form of a disc spring. The load of the washers have been matched to these bolts and are 70 to 90% of the bolt load in the flat state. The term load washers refers to a specialty version of a disc spring or Belleville washer used to improve security of bolted connections. They prevent a loss of bolt tension because of thermal cycling, vibrations, setting losses of mating parts, etc. Load washers effectively multiply the elastic reserve inherent in any properly tightened fastener. This makes them very suitable for mostly axially loaded short screws. They are not effective against coming loose due to changing cross loading
Schnorr® Load Washers offer the following advantages: High axial load > Optimum compensation for setting in the joint > Reduction of the dynamic loading of the screw > Uniform concentric loading and high safety through a high degree of spring action > Suitable for captive fitting on a wide range of bolts (combi bolts)
Understanding and measuring washer sizing: Washer sizes can be a little confusing so we will do our best to try to make it a little easier to understand. When searching for a washer, firstly, let's say you have a M6 bolt and you want a matching washer, look for washers with M6 at the beginning of the description (you can speed this up by using our "shop by" filters). If you already have a washer and you are trying to match it, measure the inside, then look for a size slightly smaller that your measurement. For example the inside measurement of the washer you measured is approx 6.50mm, you need to look for a M6 washer. If the washer measured 17.25mm internally then you need a M16 Washer. Remember washers are not precision fasteners and variations in sizing do exist and all measurements on our site should only be used as a guide
Are Metric & Imperial Washers Interchangeable?: In most cases they are which is why we have added metric sizing to the imperial range and imperial sizing to the metric range. If you are still unsure or if the washer dimensions are critical click on the washer you are interested in and view the technical specifications table before ordering
Material / Coating: Zinc-Coated + Passivation is an excellent zinc coating providing a well above average level of protection against corrosion. Whilst not designed for external use it did perform well when tested under a salt spray test with a result of 96 - 144 hours with a 8-12 um (layer of thickness) coating
