Choose by Material

Hole size, grip range and stroke setting - the guide shows how to get a solid, reusable thread first time, plus the no-tool method for one-off jobs.

The material of a rivet nut decides its corrosion resistance, strength and setting force. Use this page to pick the material, then choose your size and style.
WHY A RIVET NUT, NOT A WELD NUT OR TEE NUT
A rivet nut sets a captive thread into thin sheet, tube or panel from one side - no welding, no tapping and no access to the back of the work. A weld nut needs welding gear and clean bare metal; a tee nut needs a timber panel to bite into; a standard hex nut needs you to hold a spanner on the back. The rivet nut is the captive-nut answer when the material is too thin to tap and the back face is sealed or unreachable.
THE MATERIALS
Zinc Plated — everyday carbon steel; the broadest range, for interior work.
Stainless Steel — G304/G316 corrosion resistance for outdoor and marine.
Aluminium — light, low setting force; suits aluminium and soft panels.
Black Rubber (Well Nuts) — rubber-bodied well nuts that seal and isolate vibration.
